Volunteer Opportunities at African Services
At African Services, we believe in the power of community and the transformative impact of volunteerism. Since 1981, we have provided direct services and outreach support to New Yorkers from the African Diaspora. By joining our dedicated team of skilled volunteers, you can contribute your expertise, time, and compassion to actively support individuals and families in need as they build new lives in New York City.
Areas of Impact: Support Immigrants, Refugees, & Asylees
Volunteering with African Services offers a unique chance to engage with our diverse community. Learn about different cultures and work alongside passionate individuals who share a common goal of promoting health and well-being. Whether you have a background in healthcare, social or legal services, education, administration, or simply a desire to lend a helping hand, there are various opportunities available to match your interests and expertise.
Volunteer Roles & Desired Skills
Your involvement as a volunteer can encompass a wide range of activities:
- Assist with planning events and educational workshops
- Provide administrative support to our office
- Conduct outreach and education initiatives relevant to our African Diaspora community
- Support our staff in operating our Health, Housing, Legal, Social Welfare, and/or Pantry services
Each role contributes to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for our clients, empowering them to thrive and achieve their goals. We are currently seeking volunteers with at least some weekday availability between 9 am and 5 pm. Volunteers work in terms ranging from 1 month to 1 year. Multilingual speakers are especially helpful to support our community.
