In addition to providing direct services for our clients from across the African Diaspora, ASC hosts classes and workshops to support their confidence and independence.
Online English Literacy Classes
Language opens doors to confidence, opportunity, and connection. African Services provides free, English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESOL) computer literacy classes from our office in Harlem. The ESOL program enables students to develop the language and computer literacy skills they need to interact, engage, and build opportunities for themselves and their families. Classes are open to any adult with beginner-level English, though class sizes are limited.
- Wednesdays and Thursdays (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM)
- Good WiFi access is required

Health & Wellbeing Workshops
Offered in partnership with ASC’s Health Department, our health education programs cover a wide range of topics. These workshops are designed to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions about your health and well-being.
Workshops include:
- Maternal and Child Nutrition (facilitated in English, French, and Spanish)
- Maternal and Child Health (facilitated in English and French)
- “Risk to Reasons” HIV Prevention
- Women’s Health Program
